I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. This past year was a busy one and offered little time to make most of the events I usually get to. Hopefully, 2014 will different, we'll see! Have a safe winter season and I'll see you at events next year.
Best regards,
Jack Johnson

Some great news from Schoenbrunn. They have received 3 grants totaling around $155,000! This grant money will go to repair the Museum roof, fix bad chimney's inside the Village, repair other cabins, and possibly build new structures! The work is starting this fall and phase one will be done by spring 2014. I'll keep you informed on the progress. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Schoenbrunn Village Trade Fair was a success!
The 5th annual Trade Fair was held last weekend at Schoenbrunn Village in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Set up day was beautiful with sunny skies. Saturday began cloudy and the rains set in around 1pm. Traffic was heavy until around 2pm when the rain increased in strength until it stopped around 4:30 pm. Sunday was another beautiful day, sunny with cool temperatures. Participant were treated both Saturday and Sunday to another free breakfast put on by the Village volunteers and it was a great feast! The public was treated to an 18th century Apothecary, gunsmith, musket demonstrations each day and historical talks by author Matt Wulff and Mark Cory. A Moravian church service was held in the Church on Sunday morning for the local towns people and was very well attended.
Overall, we had a great time and I am already working on next year's event which will be October 18th an 19th, 2014. The raffle saw Jim Cummings win the Ken Netting smooth bore and all prize winners can be seen very soon on our web site at www.schoenbrunnvillagefair.org
Next year we plan on having a native camp in the woods next to the Village so any native reenactors should think about being juried for the event. Updated jury applications will be forthcoming on the web site soon as well. Thanks to all who participated and to the public for attending. Thanks.

Well, we are getting closer to the Trade Fair, less than 3 weeks till another great event. Still time to be juried but I will not be jurying people at the Fair. Applications will be taken up to October 14th. After that date, jurying is closed. We have a great selection of prizes for the raffle to be held on Sunday October 20th at 3:00pm. Tickets will be sold the Fair weekend until 2:50 pm on the 20th.
This year we have well over $3000 in prizes to be handed out so come and get your tickets at the Fair. I hope to see you all in three weeks. Take care.

The fall Lantern Tour was last night in the Village and we had a pretty good crowd. The weather didn't look good up until about an hour beforehand but it came thru! The Village is ready to go for the Trade Fair in 4 weeks and I am looking forward to another great weekend.
Our prize list for the Trade Fair raffle keeps growing and growing. We have hand forged knives, hand made leather goods, pottery, glassware, custom powder horns, Peter Goebel brass tea kettle, and more. Don't forget the custom Ken Netting Type G Trade Gun! If you don't have your tickets yet, get them at our web site, www.schoenbrunnvillagefair.org or better yet, come to the Fair and buy them there!
Hope to see you all on October 19th!
