Lee McBee, Roy Howman and I had another meeting with the Schoenbrunn staff this past Wednesday evening at the Village. Everything is ready for this years Trade Fair. Now, we only need good weather!
The Volunteers are planing on another great 2 days of breakfast for all of us. Get to the Gift Shop early both Saturday and Sunday for some great breakfast treats! Wood is ready to go, the  water spigot near the back of the Village will be operational for us so getting water will be much easier. Porta Pots will be in the back part of the Village as well and, hopefully, if the truck can them in place, hidden from view and the modern restrooms will be open as usual.
We'll have another meeting 9/19 so more after that happens. See you all soon.

Here is a photo of some of the additional prizes for this years Schoenbrunn Trade Fair raffle. Missing is the pottery from Common Ground Pottery(its in Greg Leopolds capable hands!), glassware from Bushnell bottle(its wrapped safely till the Fair!), and Wild Willy's prize. The 2 bags also come with the matching belt bags, and the knife,trivett, and wallet from Bethel Forge are one prize. (The penny knife has their touchmark). Ticket sales are going well with only 1000 to be sold this year! Also, jurying is over on 9/30/12 so if you haven't attended our Fair before as a juried participant/vendor, get your application/photos in. Attended or been juried for the Fair in the past, simply email me to let me know you'll be there. See you in October!

2012 Netting fowler for Raffle!

Just a few photos of this year's Ken Netting English fowler for the Schoenbrunn Raffle. Only 1000 tickets are being sold at $5 each or 3 for $10. The only place you can get tickets is from me. If interested, please send your check for the number of tickets you want to:

Schoenbrunn Village Lantern Tour, Saturday May 19th!

The first Lantern Tour at the Village is coming up. On Saturday, May 19th, from 7 - 10 pm, the Village will host the first of 3 Lantern Tours for 2012. There will be interpreters in all the cabins demonstrating 18th Century life with an emphasis on the Moravian Delaware culture. I will be there along with Lee McBee and Roy Howman demonstrating 18th Century frontier skills. It's a fun night for the family and once dark, you can tour the Village with candle lanterns! Please stop by if your in the area, an admission fee applies.

Raffle fowler

I now have in my possession, our custom made English fowler made by Ken Netting for this year's Raffle. It is another beautiful firearm. I will post photos in another post but here are the specifics:

Hand made 50" .62 caliber round tapered barrel made by Mr. Netting! His barrels shoot fantastic!
Stocked in cherry with engraved brass furniture.
Jim Chambers firelock, engraved by Ken.
Stock has relief carving at tang with wrist inlay for your initials!

Tickets are being printed now, only 1000 will be sold. Priced at $5 per ticket or 3 for $10! I should have them by next week. I will post information on Frontier Folk for ticket sales and Mike Pullins, Ohio Valley p
Peddler, will also be selling them for us.

With the weather turning warmer, Schoenbrunn is preparing for another season of living history. Their first event will be the spring Lantern Tour on Saturday, May 19th. The tour begins at 7 pm till 10 pm. This is always a great time with the flowers in bloom and the cabins open for the first time since last years Trade Fair! I will be holding the first meeting of the year with the Village Staff prior to the Lantern Tour starting. We will be discussing everything from problems last year and ways to fix them to firewood supply, outside the Village vendors, schedules for the weekend, etc. If you are in the area, stop by and enjoy a nice evening at the Village.
